Old Owens FC Selection

It has been decided by the Old Owens Football Club Committee that for the forthcoming season the following selection procedures for match days will be implemented and strictly adhered to :

The Selection Committee will meet to select ALL sides every Tuesday and ALL Captains must be present. THE COMMITTEE ULTIMATELY SELECTS ALL THE SIDES.

If for any reason a Captain is not available for a selection meeting, then he MUST send a representative in his place to be present at the selection committee.

Beginning with the First team, Captain’s will select players in their eleven’s on the basis of ABILITY and CURRENT FORM alone . This will of course be subject to player availability. If a player was unavailable for an eleven and the player that replaced him did well enough to retain his place, then that player must be considered on his return for the eleven below. Players will be selected for the sides that the selection committee deems appropriate AT THE TIME OF HIS AVAILABILITY.

The team selections will then be ratified by the Club Captain and Chairman before players are informed by the individual Captain’s of their selected eleven.

Players play for Old Owens Football Club and not exclusively for an individual side. If a player refuses to play for any eleven, then the committee reserves the right to not select that player for the rest of the season.

Players may only go down one side.

When they move down an eleven they MUST start for that eleven. Players can choose to be a substitute for the same side 2 weeks in a row but are entitled to be selected for the eleven below after the first week if they so wish. The Captain who is dropping the player will personally notify them to tell them they are moving down an eleven before they are contacted by the captain of that eleven.

Any changes made to the selected elevens after the selection committee meeting on Tuesday must be completed by Friday of that week, 5pm at the latest. The Committee is aware that there will be exceptions to this rule but for the sake of Captain’s social lives this must be adhered to.

Captain’s may take players from the sides below up to this time but NO later. After this time it is the responsibility of the selection committee to ensure sides are complete.

If for any reason the club is not able to field the full six teams in any one week, SAL rules dictate that the lowest team’s match is cancelled, with players filtering up the sides as per discussions with the individual captains.
